The Impending Invasion of Israel

I almost never read the newspaper. Yuck! It leaves grime all over my hands. My wife says I only get the newspaper to read the funnies, which is true. I instead get all of my news from the Internet.
Part of being the Web Minister for a Bible prophecy teaching ministry is reading up on the news everyday trying to see where current events are fitting into the overall biblical picture. With so many events today fulfilling Bible prophecy, finding those events is as easy as catching a raindrop in the downpour of a rainstorm. There is just so much going on right now that tells us that Jesus Christ is returning very soon.
Here are just a few of the many events that have happened over the last few months that together combine to form a bigger prophetic picture. See as you read through the titles and article snippets if you can piece together just what that picture is.
1) Iranian leaders pave way for the Messianic Mahdi
"Iran last week held a multi-day conference... to plot what can be done to hasten the coming of the messianic, endtimes personage known as the Mahdi. Shiite Muslims believing the Mahdi is a messianic figure who will return after an apocalypse to elevate Shiite Islam to the status of the only true religion, with the consequence that all false religions, including Sunni Islam, will be vanquished... Israeli military intelligence experts are convinced that Ahmadinejad's expressed religious devotion to the Mahdi is genuine."
2) Famous quotes by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad
"Anybody who recognizes Israel will burn in the fire of the Islamic Nations fury."
"The skirmishes in the occupied land are part of a war of destiny. The outcome of hundreds of years of war will be defined in Palestinian land. As the Imam said, 'Israel must be wiped off the map.'"
I would say that Ahmadinejad is pretty serious about his convictions, wouldn't you? If actions are louder than words...
3) Five more Nuke Plants Found in Iran

4) Iran has Enough Uranium to Build at Least Two Bombs

Let's move South to Gaza.

"The head of Israel's Military Intelligence warned that Hamas terrorists in the Gaza Strip now possess missiles capable of striking Tel Aviv."

6) Iran Threatens Oil Transport Route
"With the prospect of Israel bombing Iran's nuclear facilities looming, Tehran has renewed its threat to shut down the strategic Strait of Hormuz, through which up to 40 percent of the world's oil supplies pass."
Most of that oil is shipped to the United States. This one just boggles the mind...
7) Sudan Wins a Seat on the UN Human Rights Commission
With the Sudan's massive human rights violations, putting them on the rights commission is like placing Pol Pot in charge of a daycare!
8) Turkey An Ally No More
"Turkey has taken a radical turn in their international policies, abandoning almost overnight its two decades long relationship with Israel. On October 13, 2009, Turkey cancelled a joint military exercise with Israel and instead signed a treaty with Syria that includes plans to strengthen military ties and to end visa requirements for each country. Syria is one of Israel's most aggressively hostile border enemies."
What about the little country of Armenia up next to Turkey?
9) The Armenian-Turkish Accord

Iran, Russia and Turkey have become allies. Fundamentalist Islam is uniting old Middle Eastern enemies against Israel? Russia is supplying rockets and weapons to those very same nations. The Sudan has become part of a UN group that accused Israel of committing war crimes during their last operation. Israel has the means to become exceedingly wealthy.
To the student of Bible prophecy, these events combined form a very familiar scenario. I'm pretty sure I've read about today's quickly forming development amazingly somewhere in the ancient texts of the Bible. Do you know where in the Bible it can be found?
